The Butchery & Co

Our common life with people creates stories. Stories that either become
memories for us to share or to create in a new place to exist again.

Butchery & Co. is the place I created to relive the stories with my grandfather Kyriakos Kolokasides, from a small village, Liopetri.

He worked as an animal breeder and a butcher for a long time in the village. When he changed jobs, he never stopped breeding animals and providing his family with fresh meat, which they used to cook on the
charcoal grill. He was gathering the whole family and sometimes, the whole neighbourhood, in the
courtyard of his home to share food and everyday stories. This habit has also been passed on to my father, since my grandfather had assigned him from an early age to assist him, and over the years, this habit was passed to me.My grandfather’s love became a habit, later tradition and today is a story that runs in our family.Following today’s trends, I created Butchery & Co., having in mind my grandfather’s stories. This space has been shaped to resemble a yard of a Cypriot home which during the Summer keeps its coolness from the wet cement floor, that people used to sprinkle with a garden hose.The food is entirely cooked oncharcoal grill, in the most simple and traditional way, without seasoning and without preparing the food days in advance. Everything is made on the spot.Continuing my family’s story, I am welcoming you to Butchery & Co.’s courtyard.
